Do I need any special kind of equipment?

You can take your online music lessons right from your phone or tablet, though for a quality experience we recommend a notebook or desktop computer and headphones. Most computers have decent microphones.

Before we begin, please make sure that your device has a Zoom app installed.

How will we share files?

We use shared file programs like Google drive, notes, Dropbox, or even email. Google drive is preferred.

What skill level do I need?

We teach online music lessons to children from the age of 8 and provide music lessons for adults of all skill levels. We have experienced teachers who are beginner specialists as well as experts in a variety of styles of music.

Can I take lessons without an instrument?

Sure! If you would like to see what online lessons are like and even receive advice on selecting an instrument, contact us to discuss a trial lesson.

What instruments do you teach?

We mainly offer online music lessons in guitar, piano and drums for beginners all the way to advanced. We also offer beginner lessons in ukulele, banjo.

What happens if I miss or need to reschedule a lesson?

Please contact your teacher directly at least 48 hrs before the lesson. If you cancel a lesson 48 hours in advance you are entitled to a reschedule. Please keep cancelations to a minimum.

Can I change teachers?

While we encourage working with your teacher for an extended period of time, there are a few situations where a switch may be necessary, and we make the transition process as smooth as possible.

You may want to focus on a specific style that your current teacher does not specialize in. In this case, you can try one of our other teachers that specializes in the given style, and see if it's a better fit.

Another possibility is that your hours of availability change and your current teacher does not have an opening to teach you. While this is quite rare, we are prepared to have you switch teachers. Because we keep records of lessons and communicate with one another, our teachers make the handing off process extremely smooth, so you don’t feel like you’re starting off from scratch with a brand new teacher.

How long does it take to learn an instrument?

While it takes years to master certain aspects of playing your instrument, we like having you play music as soon as possible. We find that dedicated students can begin playing music they like in the first month or two.

Of course, a lot depends on how much time you have to dedicate toward practice and how fast you tend to learn

How long should I practice each day?

Practice is an art form in and of itself that your teacher will help you to understand and structure. We generally find that getting in 30 minutes a day helps to reinforce concepts and techniques you learn each lesson.

At the same time, there’s nothing wrong with longer practice sessions, and we also want you to have FUN playing your instrument so that you want to sit down and enjoy playing music.
