Online piano & keyboard lessons

For adults

Whether you want to learn the piano or keyboard just to be able to play your favorite songs or to perfect your skills in a specific style as an advanced level student, KP Music Mentors have got you covered.

  • Adult piano/keys lessons begin with some basic elements of theory and technique exercises.

The goal is to not only teach the student what to do/play but also why so he/she can connect the dots as she learns and speeds up the process.

We begin learning little pieces of music and keep working on technique and theory as we progress. We will provide additional video lessons for the student to review these fundamental topics and start off with a solid basis.

  • Intermediate keys students should showcase decent technical dexterity and the ability to read notes and music passages in treble and bass clefs, and some basic theoretical knowledge.

For these students, we often start with an evaluation of core skills to make sure there are no “cracks”, so to speak, that need to be addressed.

At this stage, we need to build some advanced techniques to play more challenging material, and we also hit to different styles of playing.

We will often use songs the student is familiar with to introduce new concepts, and an understanding of these concepts will help you whether you are looking at pop, rock, jazz, metal, country or any other styles playing.

  • We offer advanced lessons for serious and experienced piano/keys students looking to take their skills to a professional level.

We will teach how to approach different keyboard instruments (piano, electric pianos, organ, strings, synthesizers, etc.) and implement them in various songs and music productions.

We will also be introducing more advanced techniques pertinent to a particular style of playing. If this is the case, you will see that some of our teachers specialize in a specific style - jazz, classical, rock, metal, etc.

Even if you do not go down a particular stylistic route, all our teachers that offer advanced lessons can help you in all the areas that matter to become a great musician.

For kids & teens

At KP Music Mentors, we craft piano/keys lessons for young students of all levels - from kids who are absolute beginners to more experienced students who dream of attending a conservatory.

  • For kids just starting, we work on the basics and foundations to introduce them to the world of music and strengthen their overall musicianship.

Learning the name of the notes, the position of the notes on the keyboard and training them on basic rhythms, rhythmic subdivisions, and basic technique is the best way to make sure they can dive into learning the music they like and are most familiar with while avoiding frustration.

We then approach familiar melodies and riffs (i.e. Happy Birthday or Jingle Bells) and use them to introduce new musical elements.

We emphasise the development of piano technique in particular fingers articulation, hand synchronicity and independence through an assignment of specific exercises.

  • Students that can satisfy their basic technique requirements and have gained a solid knowledge of the fundamentals of music theory can be considered intermediate.

At this stage, we approach elements such as music reading (both bass and treble clef), arpeggios and intermediately intricate melodies and chords.

We use both classical and modern/contemporary music to teach these concepts outlining the similarities and differences between the two worlds and connecting the (many) common dots.

We will be reading some early Bach and some other baroque composers to develop the sense of polyphony and counterpoint and some Romantic composers to work on the interplaying of the two hands and dynamics.

Some essential elements of blues and American music will be added to the more European-oriented ones. In addition, concepts like chord progression and harmonization of the scale will be explained and, more importantly, applied with real music during the learning process.

  • At this stage, the student’s technique should be solid enough to increase the difficulty of preexisting topics and start learning advanced techniques and concepts.

This is the stage where a student generally starts figuring out what is their preferred style.
